The Science Behind Your Healthiest Self
Most of us have a general idea of what it means to be healthy. Eat well, stay active, get enough sleep, and keep up with routine appointments. But what if you’re doing those things and still don’t feel your best? At North Laurel Family Medicine, our Optimal Health Program takes a much closer look at what’s happening inside your body. Instead of relying on weight, symptoms, or basic lab results alone, we use advanced technology and comprehensive testing to uncover areas that may be holding you back. The goal is to help you become your healthiest by understanding your body first.
More Than A Number On The Scale
The Optimal Health Program begins with a SECA BIVA medical body composition scan and a comprehensive metabolic lab panel. But, the SECA BIVA goes far beyond a traditional scale or BMI measurement. In just a few minutes, the scan provides detailed information about skeletal muscle mass, visceral fat, fat distribution, hydration, and cellular health. It also calculates your resting and total energy expenditure, giving your provider a more accurate picture of your individual metabolic needs.
We take this information and add an extensive labs including hormone markers, thyroid screening, A1C, and a full metabolic panel. From here, the picture of your health begins to form.
Getting To The Root Of How You Feel
Low energy, poor sleep, trouble managing your weight, and other changes can have many possible causes. Rather than making assumptions based on symptoms alone, we look at your scan, labs, symptoms, and health history together. All of this information is compiled into a detailed clinical wellness report. We’ll review the findings with you and develop personalized recommendations for nutrition, supplements, hydration, activity, and other areas that may need attention.
See Your Progress In Real Time
One of the best parts of the program is that you don’t have to guess whether your plan is working. Follow-up SECA BIVA scans can track changes in muscle mass, visceral fat, cellular health, hydration, and other important measurements over time. We generally recommends updated scans every two to three months for patients enrolled in the program.
Your healthiest self won’t look exactly like anyone else’s. With the Optimal Health Program, we can use better information to understand your starting point, address what your body needs, and create a plan designed specifically for you. Get started with us today!
